The Budget Analyst III provides analysis, monitoring, and reporting of all university budgets, as well as assists with the development and implementation of solutions for budgetary and financial challenges. This position is also responsible for assisting with the operation of MSUB’s internal budgeting system. The position provides reconciliation and internal control services for budgeting and financial activities. This person works in the Administration and Finance Division and reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and professional budget and financial support, analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepares and reconciles various budget reports
  • Research, compile, and analyze budget data
  • Prepare budget forecasts and trend analysis as needed
  • Assist in the annual budget preparation process including preparing the annual budget workbooks and entering budget data into the university accounting systems (Banner and Axiom)
  • Assist with budget training as needed
  • Assists campus departments with preparing budget adjustment forms and answering general budgeting questions
  • Assists the Budget Analyst IV position as needed
EDUCATION PREFERRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
  • Experience with Banner Software System and/or other State Accounting Software Systems
  • Knowledge of higher education and/or fund accounting
  • Thorough understanding of university and/or government laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
