The Lecturer in Language Arts is a one-year appointment and will be responsible for teaching a possible combination of coursework in language arts methods, reading methods, and curriculum. The position may include supervision of field experiences for preservice teachers at both graduate and undergraduate education levels.
We seek a candidate who shares our commitment to serving diverse student populations, inclusive education, effective practices in teaching (including integration of appropriate technology), and culturally sustaining/revitalizing pedagogy. A successful candidate can teach online and face-to-face courses across a variety of programs. Candidates should also offer evidence of the capacity to engage with colleagues in collaborative work.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Master’s degree in education
- Graduate coursework in methods of Literacy Education or Reading Endorsement
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in K-8 education
- Knowledge of Common Core Standards
- Potential for excellence in university teaching
- Capacity to engage with collaborative work.
- Ph.D in Education with some graduate coursework in literacy education or reading endorsement.
- Some teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Innovative and participatory teaching techniques strongly encouraged.
- Experience in online course delivery
- Coordination of field experiences
- Commensurate with education and experience and subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
