Duties and Responsibilities: 
General

• Vigorously upholds a culture of academic integrity.
• Committed to continuous quality improvement.

Teaching
• Prepare and teach assigned courses in curriculum.
• Facilitate the learning process that creates a safe non-threatening climate which supports learning across the curriculum.
• Participate in assessment of student learning activities to maximize the potential for students to learn what is necessary to meet program outcomes.
• Teach up to 30 credit hours per year online and onsite in classroom and laboratory settings.
• Teach various writing courses, including, but not limited to, WRIT101: College Writing I, WRIT121: Intro to Technical Writing and WRIT122: Intro to Business Writing
• Teach corequisite or “enhanced” courses
• Collaborate with related programs regarding their needs for writing curriculum
• Support student success including office hours and advising.
• Improve and refine curriculum and course content to meet the needs of changing student populations.
• Assess student learning at the course, program, and institutional level.

Service
• Includes University service by participating in committees and activities as appropriate to position.
• Serve on committees, task force(s), and special projects contributing to the growth of the Program, City College, and Montana State University Billings. Scholarly Activities
• Maintain appropriate certifications and licenses.
• Maintain proficiency in teaching and specialty expertise.
• Maintain expertise in discipline.
• Attend selected professional development activities.
• Maintain currency in writing education through the review of relevant journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to include existing and emerging technologies, including underlying educational principles.

Education Required:
• Master’s degree with 9 graduate credits in English or a related field from a regionally accredited University.

Experience Required:
• Experience teaching at the secondary or post-secondary level.
• Experience using a variety of teaching and assessment techniques to enhance student success.
• Experience with teaching traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.

Education Preferred:
• Master’s Degree in English or Writing

Experience Preferred:
• Educational background in instructional methodology.
• Experience teaching underprepared/developmental learners.
• Demonstrated experience teaching with a Learning Management System (i.e. Desire2Learn, Canvas, etc).

Special Requirements:

Physical Demands:

Requires sufficient mobility to work in a college with hands-on programs and operations,
operate office equipment, able to lift, push or pull at least 25 lbs. Additional physical demands may include: stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching overhead and horizontally, repetitive hand movements, sitting for extended periods of time, and 4–6 hours of screen time per day.
