The NAAC team will collaborate with NSS and MSUB support services towards Native student recruitment, enrollment, and student success. The NAAC team will be in regular contact with all current Native students through identifying important touchpoints designed to engage Native students, optimize educational opportunities, and support their personal development. Touchpoints would include but not limited to the following: new student orientation, early-mid-late semester one on one appointments, connection to career development, academic advising, academic support services, library services, health and wellness, recreation, student employment, and student engagement, etc.
Project Coordinator Functions:
- Enrollment Support: Guide students through the enrollment process, including submission of applications, transcripts, test scores, American Indian fee waivers, financial aid and scholarships, payment plans, housing, transportation, and more.
- Financial Aid Collaboration: Work closely with Financial Aid to assess and understand students’ financial needs, as well as guide them through scholarships, grants, and other forms of aid.
- Student Relationship Building: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students from diverse tribal backgrounds, with the goal of recruiting and retaining them through degree completion.
- Mentoring and Counseling: Provide academic counseling, financial aid consultation, career exploration, and goal/motivation guidance. Assist students in identifying their needs and developing a plan of action, including referrals to appropriate services.
- Resource Knowledge: Maintain a working knowledge of campus and community resources to better support students.
- Recruitment Efforts: Recruit high school students from the seven Montana reservations, nearby communities, and adjacent state reservation communities. Participate in recruitment efforts at the seven Montana Tribal Colleges.
- Native Student Engagement: Attend and actively participate in Native student related groups on campus to promote engagement and support.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and nurture relationships with high school guidance counselors and Tribal College staff and faculty. Keep documentation of interactions
- Collaboration with Support Services: Work closely with campus support services to identify and respond to the needs of at risk Native students.
- Event Support: Assist with the setup and teardown of various cultural events, ensuring smooth execution and support for community engagement activities.

- Cultural Knowledge: Strong understanding of interpersonal protocols practiced among tribes of the Great Plains region, including gender-specific roles.

- Media & Publicity Expertise: Knowledge of tribal news media resources and the ability to create accurate, engaging documents for publicity, including fliers, posters, and social media content.
- Student Tracking & Retention: Maintain and track documentation on the academic progress of Native students, monitoring retention milestones and providing proactive support as needed.
NAAC Projects:
- Student Support: Assist new incoming American Indian students during dorm check-in, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Meetings & Collaboration: Participate in All Nation and American Indigenous Business Leader meetings to promote collaboration and engagement.
- Event Coordination: Work with the NAAC Director to coordinate and implement workshops and events, including Fall Welcome, Indigenous Day, Native American Heritage Month, and other culturally significant activities. Attend all planned lectures and social gatherings hosted by the office or in partnership with other MSUB offices.
- Social Media Engagement: Share information about planned events on social media and with the MSU community/university partners.
- Club Facilitation: Plan and facilitate monthly All Nation Club meetings, promoting them via social media and email listserv.
- Budget Creation: Develop budgets for each activity or event hosted by the NAAC, ensuring effective financial management.
- Event Documentation: Create and maintain an event file system in collaboration with the NAAC Director, documenting key details for each event, including date, time, location, target audience, supplies, space reservations, catering orders, staffing, invoices, publicity, and communication flow for student outreach and volunteer coordination.

Office/Administrative Responsibilities:
- Front Desk & Customer Service: Greet students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community visitors who come to the center or contact the office by phone, email, or social media, providing a welcoming and professional experience.
- General Office Support: Provide a range of administrative services, including faxing, scanning, file management, processing incoming paperwork and forms, and addressing general inquiries. ? Supply Management: Order and manage office supplies, ensuring that the center is well-equipped for daily operations.
- Conference Room Reservations: Handle reservations for conference rooms and coordinate with relevant parties to ensure smooth scheduling.
- Facility Coordination: Contact Sodexo for catering or other needs and greet walk-ins to assist with any immediate needs or requests.
- Student Work Area Maintenance: Ensure that student work areas are kept clean and organized, promoting a productive environment.

High School diploma or equivalent with progressively responsible office work, post high school graduation coursework or an AA/AS degree in Business and office experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Experience with general office procedures and providing customer service.
