Job Overview

Has oversight of the office management; including goal setting, marketing and monitoring of office finances; specifically revenue, expenses, backlog, procurement and profit of the office.
In coordination with other regional managers, management of departments within the company; including decisions of staff/resource changes and serves as the overall manager of staff needs and concerns that need attention beyond the department management level.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Serves at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Approves staffing recommendations (hiring, promotions, salary adjustments) provided by the Department Managers
  • May serve as Project Engineer or Project Manager on projects and is responsible for client management within the office.
  • Motivates and recognizes employees; focused on department managers and auxiliary staff.
  • Sets goals and benchmarks for the company with input from department managers and in conjunction with other office managers.
  • In cooperation with the Marketing Department, defines target markets and develops marketing strategies for the office and departments within the company to promote company growth.
  • Responsible for providing resources to the Department Managers to meet department deadlines and budgets. Defines processes to set project priorities within the office matching resources with office project needs and deadlines.
  • Encourages mentoring and training opportunities to Department Managers and Technical Leads within the company.
  • Promotes an open environment and is approachable for mentoring and guidance on management and co-worker issues, secondary to management and co-worker issues being addressed at the department management level.
  •  Responsible for managing backlog in the office, balancing marketing with workload needs and growth goals.
  • Ensures financial health for the office; profit and growth.
  • Provides opportunities for career growth and advancement to Project Managers within the department.
  • Sets budgets for management training of staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Requires general technical knowledge in the offices area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of management skills; including finance, marketing, and people skills.
  • Skill and experience in staff supervision and project management.
  • General knowledge of the preparation of drawings, details and technical deliverables.
  • Ability to establish and maintain mentoring relationships with department staff.

Required Education and Experience

Education and/or experience equivalent to college degree in Engineering (P.E.) or Surveying (P.L.S. ) preferred.

Physical Demands (if any):

Field operations may include walking and standing for extended periods of time and/or lifting equipment in excess of 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

Regional Manager must reside near the office they are managing. Generally, will work in the office with frequent travel to represent the office and the company at various events and client meetings.
