Community Gift Advisor

Launch Your Philanthropy Career — Mentored by the Best

Want to build a career in philanthropy under the personal mentorship of a leading expert in donor relations and gift planning? This is your invitation.

As a Community Gift Advisor, you'll grow alongside the best-of-the-best, helping Yellowstone Foundation build meaningful, trust-based relationships with donors and introduce them to gift opportunities that align with their values and financial goals.

This is a front-facing, public-facing role — group presentations, one-on-one advising, and a seat on a champion-level team that offers real solutions to support children in need at the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch and beyond.

This is the ideal next step for a relationship-driven professional who has already proven success building relationships with donors and is ready to grow into the specialized, rewarding field of planned giving. If you're highly regarded where you are now but eager to expand your community impact through deeply meaningful work — we want to hear from you.

Together, at Yellowstone Foundation, we fund the transformation of young lives — guiding youth toward healing and resilience in the face of life's hardest challenges.

Core Responsibilities

  • Work closely in mentorship with a leader in philanthropy and planned giving, while building authentic, trust-based relationships of your own
  • Identify, qualify, and engage donors in thoughtful conversations around legacy giving, helping them explore options that align with their values and long-term vision
  • Steward donors through the full lifecycle of a planned gift — from initial conversation and illustration, through documentation and fulfillment, to ongoing relationship
  • Maintain consistent, meaningful contact with donors through personal visits, calls, and written communication
  • Participate in and support donor events, seminars, and small-group educational opportunities introducing philanthropy and planned giving concepts
  • Represent Yellowstone Foundation in the community as a knowledgeable and trusted resource
  • Co-write clear, compelling newsletter content, emails, and confidential correspondence that translates technical gifting concepts into language that is both accurate and inspiring

Professional Growth & Technical Development

  • Bring a strong desire to learn and grow within the philanthropy and planned giving field, including its legal and technical language
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and continuing education to build deep expertise over time

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated career success in a relationship-based role
  • Proven ability to build trust and maintain meaningful, long-term relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — clear, professional, and warm
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, especially navigating sensitive financial, family, and legacy conversations

Technical Skills & Systems Proficiency

  • Comfort working with databases and CRM systems; experience with Raiser's Edge, PG Calc, and Crescendo preferred
  • Ability to learn and effectively use charitable giving illustration software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for communication, reporting, and donor materials
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint for document management and internal collaboration
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
  • Strong attention to detail in data entry, reporting, and maintaining accurate legacy records

Why This Role?

This isn't an entry-level job — it's a launchpad. You'll be personally mentored by an expert in the field, given real ownership of donor relationships, and positioned to become a specialist in one of philanthropy's most meaningful and in-demand disciplines: planned giving. And every relationship you build, every gift you help steward, directly supports children and families finding healing at the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.

If you're ready to turn your relationship-building talent into a legacy of impact, we'd love to talk.
