About Us

Our mission: to invent a better way of living. Founded in 1938 by two architects with a shared passion for ingenuity, diversity, and empathy, Cushing Terrell empowers creative designers to discover imaginative, responsible first-of-their-kind environments. By integrating architecture, engineering, and design, our knowledge-hungry design process opens doors for transformative thought and enhanced creativity.

We design systems and spaces that help people live their best lives, achieve their visions, and enjoy healthy, sustainable built environments. We find joy in uncovering thoughtful solutions for the people who work here, the people we work for, and the planet as a whole.

With more than 110 staff in 15+ disciplines, Billings is Cushing Terrell’s largest — and oldest — office, originally opened in 1938. But its size belies a team that’s one big family. We love to support the local community by volunteering at Partners in Education, United Way, Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, Habitat for Humanity, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, just to name a few.

Our downtown space is an award-winning landmark epitomizing both high design and sustainability. In addition to a 13 kW photovoltaic array, there’s also a green roof deck, replete with vegetation, outdoor seating, and a barbecue. The basement’s ping pong table spurs competitive lunch hours and our main level meeting spaces host community art walks, showcasing local artists.
