Coffee with Councilman Yakawich
Coffee with Councilpersons/Commissioners is a monthly event that connects Chamber members to their local elected officials. The hour-long coffee session intends to familiarize members with their local elected officials and discuss issues of importance in the business community.
Mike Yakawich is married to Yukiko and they have five children who were all born in Billings, Joseph, Johnathan, Naomi, Luke and Jacob.
He was born and raised in Butte to a family of nine. His father was born and raised in Roundup and his mother in Butte. Mike graduated from college at the U of M. Mike and his wife moved to Billings in 1987. Mike is a small business owner and a consultant for the Global Peace Foundation.
Mike has served with various organizations in Billings including the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Yellowstone Valley, the South Side Neighborhood Task Force, The Black Heritage Foundation, and the Elks Lodge. He is the founder of the Annual March Against Drugs and Violence and the Annual 9-11 Community Celebration of Life Project. Mike was recently honored Officer of the Year for the Elk's Lodge #394, Stewardship of our Environment Award from Bright n Beautiful and recipient of United Way: Roots of Promise Drug Prevention Award.
He finds time volunteering as well for the Boy Scouts in which all four of his boys are Eagle Scouts. Mike enjoys outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing.
