Ag Tour 2014
The Billings Chamber Ag Tour is ready to hit the road again! Join us on Friday, June 20th as we explore southeast Montana. 7:00am - Light breakfast and coffee at the Chamber 7:30am - Bus Departs Yellowtail Dam The bus will depart promptly at 7:30am and head to Yellowtail Dam and the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. Yellowtail Dam, named after the famous Crow chairman Robert Yellowtail, harnesses the waters of the Bighorn River and turns this variable stream into a magnificent lake. Construction of the Yellowtail Dam took place in the 1960s, but the idea of damming the Bighorn had been around since the early 1900s. Irrigation of land for agricultural purposes was seen as a way of helping the Crow Indians to become self-sufficient. Lunch at Garrison Stoker Resort in Fort Smith The Big Horn County Historical Museum The Big Horn County Historical Museum opened in 1979. The museum is located on what was once a 22-acre vegetable farm. Through the years the museum has grown significantly from the two original structures, a farmhouse and barn, to 26 historic buildings that were moved to the property from various locations in the county. Later two barn style structures were built on site to exhibit the growing collection of farm equipment, horse drawn wagons and antique vehicles. Trailhead Spirits Finally, we end the tour at Billings’ own, Trailhead Spirits. Trailhead Spirits is a craft distillery located in the heart of Billings’ historic downtown district in the Depot Complex at 2314 Montana Ave. Inspired to live and support local; Trailhead Spirits creates one of a kind spirits that reflect the soul of our community. Space is limited! Reserve your spot today!
